African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)
Finally, African leaders agreed to African Continental free-trade area (AfCFTA). The trade zone is expected to unite 1.3 billion people, create over $3 trillion economic bloc and open a new opportunity for development in the continent.
Leaders of the AU dubbed the deal a "historic" moment. Fifty-four out of the 55 AU member states agreed to the deal, with the exception of Eritrea. AfCFTA will be the largest trade bloc in the world.
AfCFTA is expected to reinforce Africa`s negotiating position on the international stage.
