Ethiopia, the then Abyssinia ends its absolute monarchy 88 years ago today.
It was on July 16, 1931 that the Abyssinian Emperor Haile Selassie, "Conquering Lion of Judah" sets up a constitution for his subjects by ending the absolute monarchy. By adopting a new constitution Abyssinia
moved away from being an absolute monarchy. The emperor promised that the legislation for the development of the empire will be inspired by scientific principles.
